About Us:

Parkside (Aldershot & District Learning Disability) is a registered charity based in Aldershot that provides support services for children and adults with learning disabilities living in the local area, covering both Hampshire and Surrey. It was founded in 1963 by a group of parents who realised that the support for families who had children with special needs was limited. The premises next to the park on Guildford Road were built and the first playgroup was started (affectionately known as the Peter Pan Club). Since then, Parkside has strived to fulfil the need for more services with another actvity centre and Cafe projcet opening within Farnborough Library.

Parkside’s aim as a charity is to give both children and adults the opportunity to develop their individual skills and take part in activities within the local community. Needs can vary from requiring support to socialise with friends, to participating in leisure activities, meeting new people, developing life skills and providing respite for other family members. We have developed 3 work experience programmes and are working hard to support young people with a learning disability with working oppportunities. We have a sensory suite that enables both clients here at Parskide and other local organisations to use equipment that provides real benefits.

We need your help so we can continue to offer support for all the children and adults, with a variety of services, that meet their needs! We support over 200 children and adults and the money we raise will pay for a variety of actvities and equipment that support the running of the charity. Below is just an example of how donations are spent.

• Sensory Suite maintenance
• Arts and crafts
• Music Therapist
• Mini Bus and vehicle maintenance
• Fab Cafe, and Cafe in the Park Support Workers to help work experience trainees
• Gardening in the Community Support Workers for trainees
• Gardening in the Community Support Workers for trainees
• Music Therapist
• Toys an equipment for Childrens clubs
• Hoists and support equipment

Thank you for your support and good luck!

Kind regards
